Thank you, farmer.

Today I would like to issue you a very personal thank you. I have been very blessed in my life to know an unquantifiable amount of people who are farmers, ranchers and agriculturalists. These people are the best of the best and literally all that is good about our nation. They deserve some praise everyday and especially on National Agriculture day!

Thank you for spending your days outside when it’s hot, cold, raining, sunny, howling wind and blowing snow. Thank you for braving even the nastiest of weather conditions without complaint, especially when they all happen in one week…or day. (Thank you Texas weather).

Thank you for working extra long hours. Thank you for watching the sun come up because you are already at work tending to fields and livestock and watching it go back down because you are still there. Thank you for spending all of those hours away from your family to provide food and fiber for mine.  Thank you for doing all of that expecting nothing in return.

Thank you for growing the safest and most nutritious fruits, vegetables and animal products on the market. Thank you for cultivating and innovating so that your crops and livestock are more than enough to feed all of the millions of people on God’s green earth. Thank you for doing what you do, so that I never have feel food insecure.

Thank you for all that you do, day in and day out to better your communities and your fellow man. Thank you for being brave and courageous even in the face of disaster and devastation. Thank you for never giving up even when maybe it looks like you should because perhaps a crop was damaged by hail or it has been a really tough calving season. Thank you being persistent through the trials. Most importantly, thank you for doing what you do so that I don’t have to. Thank you, farmer, rancher and agriculturalist. Happy National Agriculture day!

Much love,

Megs
